Frederick "Freddy" W. Litschke, age 85, of Hastings, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at United Hospital in St. Paul, MN.
Born on July 27, 1939, in Saint Paul, MN, to Frederick and Martha Litschke, Freddy spent his childhood in Hastings where his father owned a local bakery.
A Golden Glove boxer who held a deep love for God and his rosary, Freddy joined the Marines after graduating from high school. Upon completing his military service, he met Kathy Wagner at a dance in Washington County. The couple married in 1965, going on to raise five children in Hastings. Freddy was known for his love of the outdoors, his "hollow leg" when it came to eating, and was very social, especially with his coffee buddies from the YMCA. Most of all he loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. He made a significant impact in his community, not only as a beloved boxing coach but also through his dedication as a volunteer firefighter for 28 years and his career at Northern States Power/Xcel Energy for 40 years.
Freddy leaves behind a cherished legacy, his devoted wife, Kathy; children, Sue (Kevin) Bauer, Scott (Leann) Litschke, Fred Litschke Jr, Bobbi (Joe) Ries, and Billie Litschke; grandchildren, Samantha (Michael) Klassen, Fred (Jeanna) Bauer, Kevin (Angie) Bauer, Eric (Janna) Bauer, Isaac (Gabby) Bauer, Matthew (Ashley) Litschke, Dylan (Cassie) Litschke, Logan Litschke, Brooke Litschke, Tony (Carsyn) Ries, Stephanie (Brent) Zeien, John Ries, and Katelyn (Michael) Wardell; great-grandchildren, Harvey, Levi, Ollie, Eleanor, Tillie, Arlen, Chloe, Mason, Henry and Wyatt; siblings, Jerry (Marilyn) Litschke, Daniel Litschke, Natalie (Tom) Judge, Madeline (Erric) Moen, Carl Litschke, and Henry (Linda) Litschke; along with many other relatives and friends.
