Francis "Fritz" Eugene Feidt

Francis Eugene Feidt, age 87, of Hastings, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 16, 2022, with family by his side.

Fritz, (as he was known), was born June 10, 1935, to Eugene & Susan (Herber) Feidt in New Trier, MN. He was raised on the family farm. After 8th grade, as his older siblings were moving on with their lives, Fritz needed to leave school to help with farming. In 1956 he married Shirley Wagner and raised 4 children in Hastings. They later divorced. In 1986 he married Marion Kleis, they were together until her death in 2017.

Fritz had many hobbies & talents; he was always busy in his “workshop” creating many beautiful wood projects & furniture. He could build & fix anything and was always reliable helping family in many ways. He would do anything for his family.

Fritz enjoyed camping, deer hunting, gardening and his love, fishing! When he was no longer able to enjoy his hobbies, Fritz loved to just sit waiting for deer and other wildlife to pass by. He was always hoping to catch a bear walking past. His last trip leaving up North a bear did in fact walk across the road for him to see. His wit will always be remembered because he passed that gift to his family! When you visited him, there was always a card or dice game and of course an offer of a beer.

Fritz started and retired his career from “Smeads” (Smead Manufacturing) but many knew him when he worked at Our Own Hardware store in downtown Hastings. He had his own way of “fixing things” & he helped many with their projects.

You are well loved, and we will miss you so much, your family and friends.

Fritz is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marion; first wife, Shirley; siblings, Theresa, Ed, Ray, Arnie, Betty, Bernie & Rita; granddaughters, Wendy, Sheila; grandson-in-law, Nelson and great-granddaughter Kylee.

Survived by his children, Kathy (Marc), John (Dorothy), Joanne, Teri (Keith), grandchildren, Bryan (Kristina), Amy (Tim), Jeff, Tracy (Justin), Mike (Allison), Cassie (Todd), Pam, Chris (Brianna), Keith Jr. (Michelle), Ryan, Brenda (Jesse), Andy (Laura), Michelle (Jesse), 25 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, sister in-law Marion, bother in-law Loren; his step-family Karen (Scott), Nancy (Darin), Donna (Bob), John, seven step-grandchildren, nine step great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am Wednesday, November 2 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hastings, with visitation one hour prior. interment will be in the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Cemetery. Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel is assisting the family.
