Florence Mary Moitzheim

Florence Moitzheim, age 91, passed away on June 4, 2023 at White Pines Memory Care.

Florence was born on May 20, 1932, in Hastings, MN, to Horace and Eleanora Keetley.

Florence was a graduate of Hastings High School. During her high school years she worked as a roller-skating car hop at Hastings A&W drive-in. After graduating, she married her first husband, Bernard Zeien, with whom she had two daughters. Bernard was a home builder. Flo loved technical drawing and so she drafted designs for many homes that Bernard built, including their own near the Le Duc Mansion. Sadly, Bernard passed away when the children were young.

Flo married John Moitzheim in 1960. They added three more children to the family. Flo and John shared a love of dancing and golf. Both served as presidents of their golf leagues. Flo worked briefly as a cook at the Dakota County jail until they relocated to Moorhead in 1982 where she worked as a school cook. Their next move was to Cottage Grove in 2019 to be near their family.

Florence was skilled in needlework, particularly Hardanger, and loved to challenge her children and grandchildren to a good game of Scrabble.

She was preceded in death by husband of 60 years, John Moitzheim, daughter Gale Gleason, daughter-in-law Dena Moitzheim, brothers Frances and Kenneth Keetley and sister Elizabeth Halpaus.

Florence is survived by children Debra Zeien, Linda (Doug) Kuchera, David Moitzheim, Mark (Deidra) Moitzheim; grandchildren, Dustin & Elizabeth Kuchera, Rachel Gieser, Michelle O'Neill, Matthew, Michael and Gunnar Moitzheim, Juliet Moitzheim; 3 great grandchildren; sister, Helen Okeson.
