Evelyn A. Siebenaler, age 98 of Hastings, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Regina Senior Living in Hastings on Tuesday afternoon, June 27, 2023.
Evelyn Amelia, the daughter of Milton and Helen (Meier) Karnick, was born on October 26, 1924, in Nininger Township, Dakota County, Minnesota. Evelyn attended rural country school and on August 26, 1944, she was united in marriage to Mathias L. "Matt" Siebenaler at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Hastings. They moved to their farmhouse in Vermillion Township where they farmed, raised their children, and created many memories over the years. Even after Matt's passing on June 25, 2007, Evelyn continued to live at the farm up until a tragic fire three weeks ago. She was a talented embroider and crocheter, and was sure to have a fresh pie ready for anyone that moved into the neighborhood. Evelyn loved fishing, gardening, bowling, tending to her gardens, making thousands of pounds of sausage, and simply living life on the farm. She was optimistic (most of the time) and loyal to anyone she knew, until it came to playing a card game. It was often apparent that Evelyn never missed an opportunity to play cards in the neighborhood as she was regularly on the run to meet friends and family to play. She was a longtime member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Vermillion where she enjoyed participating in many volunteer roles over the years. Most of all, Evelyn cherished her large family and enjoyed the valuable time spent together.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Matt; siblings, Leona Tuman, Marvin Karnick, Irvin Karnick, Harry Karnick, and Delores Frandrup; son-in-law, Ron Pinke; and by her grandson, Toby Rowan.
She is survived by her eight children, Gloria Pinke, Richard "Dick" (Mary Jane) Siebenaler, Thomas "Tom" (Sarah) Siebenaler, Deb (Jim) Halter, Margaret (Mark) Dobbelaere, Matt (Brenda) Siebenaler, Christine (Mark) Bartels and Mark (Bridgett) Siebenaler; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; siblings, Dora Mae (Fritz) Frandrup and Clarence Karnick; and by many other relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2023, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Vermillion, with Father Michael Tix officiating. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery.
Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. and to a reception following the interment, all at church on Saturday, July 8.
In lieu of flowers, Evelyn's family requests memorials be made to Toby Rowan Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Frandsen Bank 2001 W. Broadway Ave., Forest Lake, MN 55025, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, or to the donor's choice in her memory.
Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
