Esther Irene Larson,
Age 88, of Apple Valley, passed away on Saturday, August 03, 2024, from complications of Dementia and lung cancer. Esther was born in Dunn County, Wisconsin on October 26, 1935 to Torger & Opal Peterson.
Her childhood and school years were spent in Duluth, MN. Esther was a graduate of the RN program at Lutheran Deaconess School of Nursing in 1957. Following graduation, she served 8 years as a head nurse for the surgery department at Deaconess Hospital. She was active in her faith, and in her church for 47 years, serving as a Stephen’s Minister, a wedding coordinator for 30 years, and 10 years as a funeral coordinator. She was also active in her Hannah women’s circle and was a Sunday school teacher for many years. Esther and her husband, Monroe, were active in small group ministry, Bible Study fellowship, and were active in church leadership positions at Faith Covenant Church in Burnsville. For more than 50 years she was a Fairview Hospital volunteer. She was an avid reader, gardener, tennis player, golfer, and loved to bake and cook meals for family and friends. Of all her priorities in life, first was her love and faith in Jesus Christ. Everything in her life followed after that. She was a woman with a heart filled with care for friends and family. She reached out to all during her life, to people who were suffering and with no place to go. Thanksgivings and Christmas’ were often filled with people she would invite into her home to enjoy those special days with her family.
Esther will be dearly missed by her husband of 66 years, Monroe; son, Gregory and partner, David; son-in-law, Stephen Keller; granddaughters, Anne, and Katherine (Justin) Vogel; grandsons, Alex (Julia) and Michael (Krystina); three great grandsons; three great granddaughters; sister, Karen Miller; brothers, Daniel and Bruce as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Amy Noelle Keller who passed away 22 days after Esther on August 25, 2024 at age 56 and her sister, Agnes.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 3, 2024 with a visitation one hour before at Faith Covenant Church, 12921 Nicollet Ave, in Burnsville.
