Eloise L. Arndtson, age 87 of Hastings, MN passed away unexpectedly from the result of a broken heart, but peacefully on Sunday, February 16, 2025 surrounded by her children at Regina Hospital.
Born on July 27, 1937, the daughter of Norman and Irma (Wells) Halverson in Lamberton, MN where she grew up with her parents and 2 sisters. After graduating High School she met and fell in love with Merle Arndtson whom she married and raised 7 children together. They settled in Hastings and have lived there for 55 years.
Eloise had a quiet yet large spirit, to know her was to love her. She was a homemaker and the epitome of a care taker, gentle and kind and never asking for anything in return and never a complaint spoken. She had the kind of sense of humor that was clever, spicy and quick witted. Eloise loved to bake all sorts of goodies. Her specialty in life, next to loving her family was growing and tending to plants/flowers/gardening, so much so that she could make a dead weed thrive. Her and dad shared the enjoyment of cross word puzzles together. She was a faithful daytime soap opera watcher and a lover of puzzles. She may have been soft spoken but she sure knew how to pull in the reins when it needed and continued to be the needle and thread in keeping us together.
She had a favorite number or anything to the equation of it and kept that theme throughout her life and right up to the end. Born 7/27/1937, married in ’57 had 7 children, 14 grand-children, passed away at the age of 87 and just 7 weeks after dad to whom she was married to for 67 years. Yes, that number is 7 and she looked for it everywhere she went!
Eloise is survived by her 7 children, Randy (Lynn) Arndtson, Bruce (Brenda) Arndtson, Cheryl (Jeff) Conklin, Kent (Gary) Arndtson-Null, Scot (Kim)Arndtson, Wendy (Jeff) Human, Kari (Richard) Seaman, 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, her sister Eileen (Dennis) Hanson and a long list of extended family members.
Eloise is preceded in death by her husband Merle, parents and sister Elaine Haak.
She will be missed more than words can express. If able, our family would love if you would join us in celebrating/honoring her life. Please feel free to wear anything colorful, purple and yellow were her favorite colors.
