Elden "Butch" Eggert

May 6, 1947 — May 3, 2024

Butch Eggert passed away peacefully on May 3, 2024, at the age of 76, leaving behind a legacy of service, entrepreneurship, and love.

Butch served his country with honor for 35 years in the Army National Guard. His commitment to duty and sacrifice earned him the respect of his comrades and the admiration of his community. Butch also owned and operated Eggert’s Door Systems for 48 years. He poured his heart and soul into his business, becoming a respected member of the community and a beacon of integrity. His hard work, perseverance, and entrepreneurial spirit inspired all who crossed his path.

Away from the hustle and bustle of work, Butch found solace in the great outdoors, particularly in his love for camping. He spent over 30 years cruising around the Midwest in his motor home before acquiring a permanent spot in Wabasha. His appreciation for nature was the cornerstone of countless memories with friends and family.

Above all else, Butch cherished his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. His kindness, wisdom, and unconditional love enriched the lives of all who knew him. His legacy of family values and strong bonds will continue to live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

Butch was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Hilda, and brothers-in-law, Bob Friesen, Dave Nyman, and Butch Lee. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Judy, sons, Jim Eggert and Joe (Sue) Eggert, four grandchildren, Dan, Sierra, Maddie, and Shey, sister, Elaine Lee, sisters-in-law, Pat Brown and Steph Nyman, brother-in-law, Mike (Nancy) Brown, and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Butch's Life will be held 11:30 a.m., Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings, with Father David Hennen officiating. Immediately following the service, Military Honors provided by the Hastings VFW Lyle Russell Post 1210 will be held. Private family interment will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Cemetery in Hastings.
