Dorothy E. Matsch

Dorothy Eleanore (Dieter) Matsch, age 98, of Hastings, passed away July 18, 2022. Dorothy was born in South Saint Paul, MN on July 10, 1924 to Norman and Helen (Falk) Dieter. She was an active member of the community and enjoyed helping with many church activities. Her children loved to tease her about winning the Miss Hastings Pageant, saying she only won because she was the daughter of Dakota Count Sheriff Norman Dieter. Dorothy was very fun to play golf with. During one round when she and Jan were paired with two gentlemen, Dorothy made a 40 foot putt! Another highlight for Dorothy was taking a ride on her grandson, Ben's Harley when she was 91 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; parents, Norman and Helen Dieter; brother, Richard Dieter; and grandson, Matthew Sadowski. Dorothy is survived by her children, Jan Dieter and Steve "Mitch" (Ginann) Matsch; grandchildren, Ben (Megan) Sadowski, Wes (Keli) Matsch and Will Matsch; great grandchildren, Mathew Sadowski, Charles Schroeder, and Wyatt, Walker and Avery Matsch. Due to the continued COVID problems, there will be a private graveside service for immediate family members. Memorials preferred to Hastings Family Service.
