Donna M. George

August 1, 1931 — December 12, 2024

Donna M. George, age 93 of South St. Paul and recently of Hastings, died peacefully on Thursday morning, December 12, 2024.

Donna Mae, the daughter of Clarence and Mary (Lattery) McNamara, was born on August 1, 1931, in Devils Lake, North Dakota. Following the death of her father when Donna was five, she traveled by train with her mom and siblings to South St. Paul where she attended school. On June 19, 1948, Donna was united in marriage to Ronald George and they celebrated sixty-eight years of marriage prior to his death on July 18, 2016. During their marriage, they were blessed with five children: Katherine, Robert, Yvonne, Ronda, and Pamela. They also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Canada, and Bahamas, always enjoying a casino stop or two along the way. In retirement, they briefly moved to Webster, Wisconsin to enjoy their lake home but quickly found out they couldn't be that far from family and settled back in South St. Paul. Donna was proud of her Irish heritage, and regularly introduced herself as: "I'm Donna George, and I'm Irish, and I’m the tall thin blonde." Everyone she met became a dear, dear friend, and she always strived to know as much as she could about you within five minutes. She was the life of the party, and always wanted everyone to have a good time. Donna's faith was important to her as well, and was a dedicated member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in South St. Paul since the 1940's.

Donna was a homemaker most of her life and was known for her cooking and baking skills. Every Friday she made countless cinnamon rolls, pies, and breads. It wasn't until later in life that she obtained her driver's license and went to work at Aspen Medical Group as an Infection Control Specialist.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ronald George; and by her grandson, Daniel Stewart.

Donna is survived by her children, Katherine A. (Stephen "Manny") Crapps, Robert (Mary) George, Yvonne (Duane) Hess, Ronda (Michael) Davidson, and Pamela George; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren with one more due soon; brother, James (Kathy) Hale; sister, Jackie (Dale) Johnson; and by many other relatives and friends.
