Donald G. "Don" Reuter, age 80 of Hastings, died peacefully at home following an extended illness on Friday morning, April 12, 2024.
Donald Gregory, the son of Gregory J. and Ruth M. (Brennan) Reuter, was born in Hastings on December 12, 1943. Don attended Hastings High School and graduated with the class of 1961. Following his education, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served two tours in Vietnam. He continued to serve in several branches of the military, retiring after more than 25 years of service to his country. In 1991, Don was united in marriage to Mary “T” (Payette) Price, making their home in Hastings.
Don was a long-time carpenter and jack of all trades, often tinkering and working on projects for family and friends. During his career he helped build Prairie Island and worked on the Lafayette Bridge. Later in life, Don accepted a position with Dakota County Parks where he retired as Carpenter Supervisor. In his free time, Don enjoyed reading and playing cards, and especially enjoyed traveling with T.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by his siblings, Jeffrey Reuter, Roger Reuter, John Reuter, Thomas Reuter, and Eugene Reuter.
Don is survived by his wife, T. Price-Reuter; sons, Jon (Rani) Reuter and Noel (Leslie) Reuter; grandchildren, Jaden, Kyan, Alexa, Sydney, and JP; siblings, Claire Mathews and Bill Reuter; mother of Jon and Noel, Charlene Reuter; the extended Price family; and by many other relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 22, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hastings, with Father James Notebaart officiating. Interment with Military Honors provided by the Hastings VFW Lyle Russell Post 1210 will follow at the cemetery.
Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings, and for one hour prior to Mass at church on Monday morning.
