Donald Brice Schneider

Donald B. Schneider, 85, a lifelong resident of Denmark Township (Hastings, MN), passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 10, 2024. He was born on November 9, 1938, to Hubert and Agnes (Schiltgen) Schneider. Donald was the 5th of 10 children, the last to be born in the family house.

Donald graduated from Cretin Catholic High School in 1956, he also attended Loras in Dubuque, Iowa for three years. Donald continued to the University of Minnesota for two years to study agriculture. He was a member of ROTC in high school and joined the army on his 21st birthday, where he worked with hydraulics. Donald returned home to help with the farm when his mom was diagnosed with cancer. He took over the family farm in 1961 and lived there throughout until his health deteriorated this spring. Donald was a longtime farmer and member of the Denmark Township planning commission. He also served as a fire marshal for many years. He enjoyed photography, camping, fishing, hunting and playing golf.

Donald is survived by his daughters, MaryJane Schneider and Vicki Schneider; eight grandchildren, Tyler (Sydnee) Henkemeyer, Tanner Kirkpatrick, Stephanie Henkemeyer, Cole Kirkpatrick, Mackenzie Kirkpatrick, Joseph Henkemeyer, Drew Kirkpatrick, and Matthew Jacobsen; first great grandson, Cooper Henkemeyer; siblings, Cathe Cich, Hubert “Buster” (Helen) Schneider, Mary Schulte, Greg Schneider, Frank (Barb) Schneider, and Richard “Dick” (Nancy) Schneider.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert “Hub” Schneider and Agnes (Schiltgen) Schneider; stepmother, Margaret (Richter) Schneider; siblings, Sister Patricia Schneider, Roger Schneider and D. Jean Schneider; brothers-in-law, Herm Schulte and Jack Cich; and son-in-law, Bryan Jacobsen.

A visitation will be held at Starkson Family Life Celebration Life Celebration Chapel, 3075 Vermillion St., Hastings, MN 55033 on Thursday, June 20, 2024 from 4 PM to 7 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 15th St W, Hastings, MN 55033, on June 21, 2024, at 11:00 am. A visitation will precede the service from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Lunch will immediately follow the mass, then burial at SEAS Cemetery.
