Diane S. Burke

Diane S. Burke, 69, passed away Sunday February 11, 2024, with her family by her side.

She was born on June 5, 1954 to Karl and Irene (Bogstie) Klemetsrud in Devils Lake, ND. The sixth of nine children, Diane grew up in Lakewood Park, ND until 1969. The family moved to Cottage Grove, MN; where Diane graduated from Park Senior High School in 1972.

Diane met Dale Burke and they were married April 26, 1975. They settled in Hastings just before the birth of their first child in 1979, where they raised their children Nicholas and Molly. Hastings remained home until Diane’s death.

Diane worked for several years at Walmart, where she made many longtime friends with her coworkers. She was an avid reader, gardener, and culinary expert. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Diane was the fun-loving heart of her family, extended family, and will be greatly missed by all that knew her. Her memory is carried on in life by her husband Dale, her children Nicholas Burke and Molly (Steve) Murray, her grandchildren Jack, Max, Bryn, and Etta, her sisters Karen (Orrin) Berg, Karla (Curt) Brekke, Kathy (Michael) Lyness, Pam Klemetsrud, her brothers Karl (Donna) Klemetsrud, Steven Todd Klemetsrud, sisters-in-law Mary Lou Mowry, Darlene (Bob) Piazza and Wendy Klemetsrud, brother-in-law James Burke (Betty), and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Karl and Irene Klemetsrud, her in-laws Willard and Mary Burke, her brothers James and Kenneth Klemetsrud, her brothers-in-law Willard Jr., Gerald, and Kenneth Burke, and sister-in-law Beverly Kiffmeyer.

A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Starkson Family Celebration Chapel, 3075 Vermilion St., Hastings, MN. A visitation will start one hour prior at 10:00 a.m. A reception will follow the service at the funeral home. Internment will take place at Cottage Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Our Lady of Peace Hospice in St. Paul, in memory of Diane Burke.
