Debora "Deb" (Morehouse) Ficker

Debora "Deb" Ficker, age 67 of Hastings, died peacefully on Friday morning, February 23, 2024, at home following a short battle with cancer.

Debora Kay, the daughter of Glenn and Louise (Mudrick) Morehouse, was born on February 7, 1957, in St. Paul. Following her graduation from Hastings High School with the class of 1975, Deb briefly continued her education before beginning her career as a CNA at the Minnesota VA Home and various nursing homes in the area. On February 17, 1979, Deb was united in marriage to Albert "Al" Ficker and they were blessed with three children. Deb spent most of her life as a cook, restaurant manager, house cleaner, and most importantly, a caretaker to many people in the Hastings area. She enjoyed the opportunity to manage Spiral Pizza in Hastings, as well as the middle school lunch lady for years as well. In her younger years, Deb enjoyed playing softball and shooting pool with friends. All throughout her life, she was an avid can collector who often used the recycling monies to pay for many things for family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; mother-in-law, Gen Ficker; and by many other loved ones and dear friends.

Deb is survived by her children, Peggy Retka, Jaci Ficker, and Theo (Kayla) Ficker; grandchildren, Jaxen and Judsen Sneen and Holden and Aubree Ficker; siblings, John (Ginny) Anderson, Barbara (Alan) Mooring, George (Dianne) Morehouse, Jan (John) Colwell, Charlie (Kathy) Morehouse, Linda Childs, Jerry Morehouse, Mary Durand, and Myron (Julie) Morehouse; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends that will always remember her generosity throughout her life.

A Celebration of Deb's Life will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 29, 2024, with a time of sharing at 6:00 p.m., all at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to programs that support kids camps and food programs, or to The Ronald McDonald House in memory of Deb.
