Dalton Zetwick

December 26, 1989 — July 23, 2023

Dalton Robert Zetwick, age 33 of Hastings, died unexpectedly on Sunday, July 23rd, 2023 at his home.

Dalton, the son of Robert and Barbara (Kummer) Zetwick was born on December 26, 1989 in Hastings. Dalton was raised in the Hastings community and eventually graduated from Hastings High School where he made lifelong friends. Following High School, Dalton learned the ins and outs of exterior construction alongside his Dad and later became self-employed as the owner/operator of DZ Construction.

Dalton was fiercely loyal to those he loved. He was always kind to those he met, never sparing a judgement and offering a warm smile and the biggest hugs. Dalton was the type of person who could strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere and he touched a lot of lives by doing just that, being himself and a social butterfly. He was always surrounded by his friends and they will remember him as someone who cared deeply and empathetically about what was going on in their lives and always championed others’ successes. He never wanted anyone to feel left out and was sure to be inclusive to those he interacted with which further showed the depth and size of his beautiful heart. Dalton was spontaneous, never taking for granted an opportunity to have fun, see and try new things, or to go out on a whim to live his life to the absolute fullest.

Dalton enjoyed working with his hands both in his business and in nature; the outdoors soothed him and he found peace in his connectivity to the earth whether in the garden or enjoying his past times of hunting and fishing. His adventures were only amplified by his fateful companions, his beloved dogs who showed him unconditional love.
Dalton received his holy sacraments from the Catholic church and made it a priority to attend mass each Sunday. His faith was something he held very closely to his chest and we know he was welcomed by Jesus’ loving arms into eternity.

Dalton met and fell in love with his fiancée, Ashley Gary and together they welcomed three beautiful children: Colt Jared (3), Casey Jane (2), and Robert Ray (1). His children were his world and nothing brought him more pride then being their father. He was continuously making efforts to improve himself to be the best Dad to them. No matter the challenges he faced, and there were many, he pushed forward and kept striving to create a life that he and his family would be proud of.

Dalton is survived by his fiancée, Ashley; children, Colt, Casey and Robert; parents, Robert and Barbara Zetwick; siblings, Taylor (Jarrad Infalt) Haskell, Jared Zetwick, Brandi Zetwick and Nikki Zetwick; nieces, Jaden, Gemma and Carter; nephew, Callen;  maternal grandparents, James and Margaret Kummer; paternal grandmother, Donna Zetwick. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and a plethora of loving friends with whom he deeply cherished.

Dalton is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Robert Zetwick.
