Brian S. Bigalke

November 12, 1975 — September 1, 2023

Brian S. Bigalke, passed away Friday, September 1, 2023 in Hastings, MN.

Brian Scot Bigalke was born in Little Falls, MN to Scot and Diane (Girvin) on November 12, 1975. In 1978 the family, moved to Hastings, MN where Brian attended school. After graduating from Hastings High School in 1994, Brian attended Dakota County Vocational School earning his two year accounting degree. Brian started working for Securian Financial (formally called Minnesota Life) in St. Paul on June 1st, 1999 where he held various roles the past 24 years, most currently as a support clerk.

Brian enjoyed a variety of interests throughout his life. During high school he participated in adaptive sports including floor hockey and baseball. Brian played the saxophone in the middle school and high school band and kept the score book for the Hastings Baseball team.

Throughout his life Brian was an avid Sports fan. He specifically followed the Twins. Brian would listen to the Twin’s on the radio, watch games on TV, attend games and rarely missed a game. The highlight of his dedication to the Twin’s was on Monday August 28th, 2023 when Scot and Brian attended a game sitting in row 2 of the Championship Club Seating, right behind home plate. Brian enjoyed watching the Vikings and college sports, specifically the NCAA basketball tournament. Brian loved watching the Olympics, both summer and winter.

Brian enjoyed road trips with his parents, that he planned, to locations he wanted to see. He took his parents on road trips to several Hall of Fames, sports stadiums and other interests of Brian’s. Brian also enjoyed annual family vacations at Cragun’s Resort in Gull Lake, MN. He enjoyed fishing, boat rides, beach bonfires, long walks on the shore, and swimming.

The past several years the family has gathered for a Twin’s game in a suite around Father’s day, which has created many wonderful memories. Brian also had a very special relationship with his niece and nephews, Jovie and Wyatt. Brian enjoyed game nights with Jovie, especially BINGO and word games, and he also had a special love and concern for Wyatt.

Brian enjoyed spending time with his extended family, including grandparents, aunts and uncles, and cousins. He would never miss a family gathering. Brian was quiet but enjoyed being in groups of people. He loved to observe people interacting with each other and had the best unexpected, witty one liners. Brian had unending questions for others, about every topic, and enjoyed instigating others to engage in heated discussions that he sat back and enjoyed observing (i.e. politics, sports).

Brian was preceded in death by his grandparents, and his cousin, Rees Palashewski.

He is survived by his parents, Scot and Diane Bigalke; brother, Chad (Rhiannon) Bigalke and their children Jovie and Wyatt; aunts and uncles, Dean and Sherry Bigalke, Greg and Diane Bigalke, Mark and Jody Johnson, Pam Girvin, Jon and Maureen Palashewski; and many cousins, other family members and friends... Special friend Nikki Reinardy and the Reinardy family.
