Bonnie J. Gerster

Bonnie J. Gerster, age 93 of Lakeville and formerly of Hampton, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family at The Moments of Lakeville on Friday evening, September 15, 2023.

Bonnie Jane, the daughter of Peter and Eva (Sauve) Laundry, was born on August 22, 1930, in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. Following her graduation from Red Lake Falls High School, Bonnie continued her education and graduated with her Teaching Degree. She was a longtime grade school teacher at St. Peter's Catholic School in Richfield until marrying Alvin Gerster when she then focused her time on raising her two boys, Rick and Steve. In her younger years, Bonnie enjoyed traveling and going to Twins games with her longtime friends. She was an avid card player, especially Euchere and Bridge, and enjoyed spending time with her card club friends over the years. Bonnie was a longtime member of St. Mathias Catholic Church in Hampton too.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Al; and by her three brothers and four sisters.

Bonnie is survived by her sons, Rick Gerster and Steve (Cris) Gerster; grandchildren, Brandon, Gracie, Ella, Brynn and Eva; sister-in-law, Alvera Niebur; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Hampton, with Father Mike Tix officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.

Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., and to a reception immediately following the graveside service, all at church on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Minnesota Hospice, The Moments of Lakeville, or to the donor's choice in memory of Bonnie.

Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
