Bonnie Ella Lunde

Bonnie E. Lunde, 88, of Hastings, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on May 20, 2024. She was born on April 12, 1936, to Henry and Ida (McDonough) Sommerfield in Mazeppa Township, MN.

Bonnie attended school in Mazeppa, and then married her beloved husband, Paul Lunde, on November 24, 1978.

For over 50 years, Bonnie dedicated her professional life as a waitress in Hastings and brought joy to many with her warm service. She was a cherished member of the Woman’s Auxiliary in Mazeppa. Known for her love of travel and creating memories with her daughters, Bonnie found solace in making quilts and tending to her garden, always ensuring her yard was a beautiful sanctuary.

Bonnie is survived by her children, Donald Blanck II, Louis (Deb) Blanck, Amy Haines, Joseph (Deb) Lunde, Christine (Scott) Brown; her 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Eva;; brother-in-law, Martin; and many other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul Lunde; daughter, Patsy; her parents, Henry and Ida; brothers, Don (Helen), Harry (Maxine), Carl (Fern); sister, Lucy; and brother-in-law, John.

A service to honor and celebrate Bonnie's life will be held at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, 3075 Vermillion Street, Hastings on May 29 at 11:00 am. A visitation will take place from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. The burial will take place immediately following the service at Mazeppa Cemetery with a reception to follow at the American Legion in Mazeppa.
