Barbara "Barb" J. Lutz

Barbara J. Lutz, age 86, passed away Saturday morning, December 30, 2023 in Hastings, MN.

Barb was born on December 18, 1937 to parents John and Katherine Olson and was raised by her Italian grandparents in Eveleth, Minnesota. She enjoyed being on the Iron Range with all of her aunties, uncles and cousins. She dedicated numerous years of her life as a special education teacher leaving a positive impact on all of her students. Her commitment extended beyond the classroom, as she was an active member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. She found joy in giving back to her community, volunteering extensively at SEAS church and the local library. Her selflessness, generosity and kindness touched the hearts of many who came in contact with her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Dick; her parents; and her sister, Margaret.

Barb is survived by her children, Donald (Tammi), David (Cathy), Barb (Shawn), Kevin (Roxy), Brian, Pam (Tom), and Mark (Melissa); numerous grandchildren; brother, Richard; and many other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 27th at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel with a visitation one hour prior. A reception will follow the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will take place at a later date.
