Arlen Leroy Stevanus

Age 79, of Rosemount, Minnesota went to be with his heavenly father on July 15th, 2023.

Arlen was born June 1, 1944, in Appleton, MN to Viola and Galen Stevanus. After graduating from Ortonville High School at the age of 18, he joined the United States Navy and served from 1963 to 1969. After an honorable discharge, Arlen set his sights on working in the automotive industry. He loved his ’66 Chevelle, woodworking, and playing cards, especially “13” with his grandchildren.

On February 19, 1966, Arlen married the love of his life and best friend, Elizabeth “Betty” (Wollschlager) Stevanus in Minneapolis, MN. They were married 57 years and were inseparable. Together they were members of Shepard of the Valley Lutheran Church. Arlen was a great husband, devoted Christian, hard worker, dedicated father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Arlen is preceded in death by his parents, and younger sister, Gail Stevanus.

Arlen will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 57 years, Betty; daughter, Brenda (Mark Dunn) Ratgen; son, Bruce (Shelia) Stevanus; five grandchildren: Lucas (Molly) Ratgen, Olivia (Austin Dollimer) Ratgen, Nicholas Ratgen, Katelyn (Thomas) Wells, and Joshua (Devin Wells) Stevanus; and two great grandchildren, Amelia and Chloe Wells.

Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 12th 2023 with a visitation from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM, at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 12650 Johnny Cake Ridge Rd., Apple Valley. Arlen will be laid to rest with military honors at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, privately at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church.
