Aneta V. Staus

Aneta V. Staus, age 94 of Vermillion, died peacefully at Regina Senior Living on Wednesday morning, January 25, 2023.

Aneta Victoria, the daughter of Leo and Lenora (Radonski) Jarombek, was born on March 11, 1928, in Walsh County, North Dakota. On July 9, 1946, Aneta married Corwin "Corky" Staus in Grand Forks, North Dakota. After moving to Vermillion, she was a longtime rural letter carrier for the Rosemount Post Office. Aneta enjoyed bowling in her younger years, playing cards with friends, and was always working a crossword puzzle or spelling bee contest to continually expand her vocabulary. Aneta was a faithful woman and member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Vermillion.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Corwin; daughter, Linda; and by her siblings, Leo, Ted, Nora, Helen, Marcella, and Irene.

Aneta is survived by her children, Rodger, Richard (Valarie) Staus, Sandra (Larry) Lankow, and Ray (Donna) Staus; special friend, Judy Johnson; brother, Raymond (Joyce) Jarombek; twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 4, 2023, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Vermillion, with Father Michael Tix officiating. Interment will be held at the parish cemetery.

Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at church on Saturday morning.
