Andrew L. Kalin

Andrew L. Kalin, age 85 of Hastings, died peacefully at Hastings Health & Senior Living on Tuesday morning, January 16, 2024.

Andrew LeRoy, the son of Erik and Hulda (Anderson) Kalin, was born on December 27, 1938, in Hastings. Andrew attended schooling in Hastings and graduated with the North St. Paul class of 1958. He then enlisted in the National Guard and was briefly stationed at Ft. Riley before being Honorably Discharged. On August 7, 1965, Andrew was united in marriage to Janice Reinhardt at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Hastings. Andrew was a longtime employee at 3M Chemolite where he worked in production for most of his career. He and Janice loved traveling, especially to Las Vegas multiple times a year, and was an avid bowler and golfer. He also enjoyed every chance he could to go pheasant hunting on his many trips to South Dakota with family and friends. In his retirement, Andrew worked part time at the Hastings Car Wash where he took great pride in his role there, and was known to always have car wash tokens for family and friends. Andrew also cherished the time spent solving the world's problems with his breakfast buddies at McDonald's seven days a week.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step mother, Helen; brothers-in-law, Ron Rimpila and Lance Reinhardt; and by his godson, Jake Reinhardt.

Andrew is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Janice; children, Dawn (Marty) Goss, Pam (Tom) Hague, and Rene Graham; grandchildren, Jenna (Joe) Schloesser, Tyler Hague, Brandon (Stacy) Powell, and Danielle Graham; six great-grandchildren; sister, Patti Rimpila; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A Celebration of Andrew's Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 21, 2024, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.

Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation for one hour prior to the service, and to a light reception immediately following, all at the funeral home on Sunday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, or to the donor's choice in his memory.
